I didn't have the money to build a new desktop PC to run Windows 7 and my two XP deveopment boxes are both unsuitable upgrade candidates. I was in the same position back in August. I can sympathize with developers who aren't able to install the tools. No mention was made of the fact that XP was not supported. The vague message said there hadīeen an error and the installation had been aborted. When I tried to install the tools on my main development PC (running XP) back in August, I receive an error message that was almost completely meaningless. If your machine running the emulator is too fast you won't have any idea how your app will perform on an actual phone (I have never been in the same room as a WP7 phone).Īt least the tools now tell you that you can't run them on Windows XP. Help in making the emulator run smoothly.

This computer is my ONLY Windows 7 box as my other machines are all Windows XP. The laptop that I using for WP7 development does have Intel integrated graphics and the emulator runs pretty darn well. Assume that any integrated Intel card won't work unless it's been made in the last year or so (even then it'll probably perform poorly).
